Perspective in Engineering Materials and Applications (PEMA)
Guide for Authors
1. About the Journal
Perspective in Engineering Materials and Applications (PEMA) is a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary, open-access journal dedicated to the dissemination of scientific knowledge related to engineering materials and their technological applications. The journal serves as a platform for researchers, engineers, academics, and industry professionals to publish high-quality research findings that contribute to advancements in materials engineering and related technological systems.
2. Aims and Scope
PEMA publishes scholarly work addressing developments in engineering materials, materials science, industrial technologies, and policy frameworks influencing technological innovation. The journal welcomes submissions covering areas including, but not limited to:
Materials science and engineering
Advanced functional materials
Nanotechnology and nanomaterials
Materials processing and manufacturing
Materials characterization and testing
Smart materials and intelligent systems
Sustainable materials and green technologies
Energy materials
Industrial materials applications
Technological innovations in materials engineering
Materials-related policy and regulatory frameworks
3. Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to PEMA are evaluated through a structured editorial and peer review process. Initially, submissions are screened by the editorial team to determine whether the manuscript aligns with the journal’s scope and meets minimum academic standards. Manuscripts that pass this preliminary assessment are forwarded to independent reviewers who possess expertise in the relevant subject area. Reviewers evaluate submissions based on originality, scientific quality, clarity, methodological soundness, and relevance to the journal. Following the review process, the editor may decide to:
Accept the manuscript
Request minor revisions
Request major revisions
Reject the manuscript
4. Open Access Policy
PEMA operates under an open-access publishing model. Articles published in the journal are freely accessible to readers worldwide without subscription barriers. This policy promotes broad dissemination of scientific knowledge and enhances the visibility and accessibility of published research.
5. Publication Ethics and Editorial Policies
The journal adheres to internationally recognized standards of research integrity and responsible scholarly publishing. Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts represent original research and have not been published previously. Submissions must not be simultaneously under consideration by another journal. Any research involving human participants or animals must comply with appropriate ethical standards and must have received approval from the relevant ethics committee.
6. Authorship
Individuals listed as authors must have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research. All authors must approve the final manuscript prior to submission and agree to be accountable for the integrity of the work.
7. Changes to Authorship
Requests to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must be justified and approved by all listed authors as well as the journal editor. Such changes may only be made before the manuscript is formally accepted for publication.
8. Conflict of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial, professional, or personal relationships that could influence the interpretation of their research findings. If no conflicts exist, authors should explicitly state that there are no competing interests.
9. Funding Disclosure
Authors should clearly identify any financial support received for the research, including grant numbers and funding agencies where applicable.
10. Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools
Authors may use digital tools, including artificial intelligence applications, to assist in manuscript preparation. However, authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the submitted work. Artificial intelligence tools should not be listed as authors.
11. Preprint Policy
Manuscripts that have been previously shared on recognized preprint servers may still be considered for publication, provided that the authors clearly disclose the preprint information at the time of submission.
12. Inclusive Language
Authors are encouraged to use language that is respectful and inclusive. The use of discriminatory or biased terminology should be avoided.
13. Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts must be written in clear English and submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx). PEMA does not have specific template for initial submission but the manuscript should typically include the following components:
Title
Author names and affiliations
Corresponding author information
Abstract
Keywords
Introduction
Methodology or Materials and Methods
Results and Discussion
Conclusions
Acknowledgements (optional)
Funding information (if applicable)
Conflict of Interest statement
References
14. Abstract
The abstract should summarize the purpose, methodology, key findings, and significance of the research in approximately 150–250 words.
15. Keywords
Authors should provide three to six keywords that reflect the central themes of the manuscript.
16. Tables
Tables should be clearly formatted and numbered sequentially. Each table must include a descriptive caption and should be referenced within the manuscript text.
17. Figures and Illustrations
Figures, diagrams, and images must be submitted in high-quality format with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. Each figure should include a clear caption explaining its content.
18. Supplementary Materials
Additional materials that support the findings of the research, such as datasets, extended methods, or additional figures, may be submitted as supplementary files.
19. Research Data
Authors are encouraged to make research data available whenever possible in order to promote transparency and reproducibility. If data are not publicly available, authors should provide a statement explaining the conditions for data access.
20. Reference Style
PEMA follows a numbered citation system similar to the IEEE reference format, commonly used in engineering journals. References should appear in numerical order according to their first citation in the text and should be indicated using square brackets.
Example:
Engineering materials play a vital role in modern technological development [1].
